The CardioMyocyte Dynamics Lab (CMDL) is under the direction of Paul Paolini, Ph.D Professor Emeritus of the Department of Biology at San Diego State University in San Diego, CA.
The research in the lab is focused on the applications of molecular biology and computer modeling to understand cardiac cell behavior. Our long-term goals are to:
- determine the direct/indirect regulatory pathways affecting both cardiac calcium signaling and handling in the process of cardiac myocyte contraction
- develop physical methods to systematically monitor cardiac cell contractility
- design computer visualization models for cardiophysiological-aided research
